10/9/12 | Founder/VC Speaker Series: Launching a Successful Venture

“No need to worry my accountant handles that.”

Opens Nick Sher, CPA & Founder of Sher & Associates, borrowing a Biggie quote, he touches on the importance of developing a relationship with an Accountant at the beginning of your startup’s lifecycle. Only you can make Accounting fun Nick and we love you for it, great job!

This was just one of the many lines that made last night memorable. We can’t say enough about our speakers and the energy and enthusiasm they brought to this speaker series held at Mercy College. Shout out to Professor Wazi, Founder of Let’s Order Now and President of the Mercy College Entrepreneurship Institute and Ed Weis, Dean of the College of Business for providing an excellent venue for the event – and even better food, wow, Mediterranean shrimp skewers?! bonus!

Some of the quotable moments of the night:

“Be knowledgeable enough to be dangerous…you should know more about your industry than I do.” Charlie O’Donnell, Partner, Brooklyn Bridge Ventures | @ceonyc

“Don’t ever confuse activity with achievement.” Gary Reloj, Founder, OMG Foodie | @OMGFoodie

You can also find more memorable quotes on our Twitter account.

It was a great evening with a mix of Founder tips and stories, professional how-to’s, and networking. We look forward to hosting more of these and welcome any feedback or suggestions you all would have for topics, speakers, format, etc. – after all, we put these on so that you can learn as much as possible and connect with the right people that can help turn your dream to a reality.

So here’s to passion, drive and an insanity that only few can understand. Here’s to entrepreneurs!

Cheers,
